Ambassador's Biography

Ambassador Başak Türkoğlu was born in 1968 in Ankara. She graduated from the Middle East Technical University and achieved her master’s degree at Bilkent University.

Ambassador Türkoğlu joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey in 1990. Her previous assignments are as follows:

-Department of Human Resources, Attaché, 1990-1991

-Department of Defense Agreements, Attaché, 1991-1992

-Deputy Directorate General for North America, Attaché, 1992

-Turkish Consulate Generalin Anvers, Attaché and Vice Consul, 1994-1997

-Deputy Directorate General for Policy Planning, Third Secretary and Second Secretary, 1997-1999

-Turkish Embassy in Beijing, Second Secretary and First Secretary, 1999-2003

-Deputy Directorate General for Energy, Water and Environmental Affairs, First Secretary and Head of Section, 2003-2005

-Permanent Delegation of Turkey to the Council of Europe, Counselor, 2005-2009

-Head of Department for the Council of Europe, 2009-2012

-Deputy Directorate General for the EU Affairs, Minister Plenipotentiary, 2012-2014
